Those are awesome! Do you use a sewing machine for most of it? How long does a typical quilt take you? What do you use for the batting? I'm a knitter and I've been meaning to get into quilting (even been collecting vintage fabric scraps), but so far I'm scared.

Thanks! I do use a machine for everything but hand finishing the edging on most of them; sometimes I hand quilt them but more often I machine quilt them. It can, of course, all be done by hand but that will take longer and I am lazy.
I use all cotton battings - I bought a 40 yd roll of Warm and White (just one brand) with my tax return this year so that hopefully will last me a while :) I like cotton because it is thin and gives a great vintage look when you wash it. I have used a thin polyester batting in the past but it was really slippery and made the quilting puckery. My mom used the thicker polyester batting in the 80s when everyone else did but that's not my favorite look - more like a department store comforter than a traditional quilt to my weird brain. There are also wool battings and blends of all three fibers. I haven't tried wool yet but I have heard great things about it.
In the end, quilting is addictive and expensive, and takes up a lot more space than yarn (I've done both!) but is entirely satisfying and makes me really happy. :)
